CONCLUSION
Chaucer makes some retractions, and many scholars wish he had not added this
section to his Tales.
Like an artist, he should know when the work is complete and not tinker with
it at a later date.
It is clear that the Tales were written when Chaucer was at his peak, and he
has let his misguided conscience construct this retraction.
